Justin Timberlake to record Britney duet
Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake
Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears are set to record a duet to rescue her faltering pop career.
Justin – who first met Britney while starring on children's TV show The Mickey Mouse Club and dated her for four years until 2002 – is confident the record can help rebuild her faltering pop career and get her back on track
A source said: "Britney was extremely touched that Justin had been in contact. Going into the studio is Justin's way of helping her get better."
The pair are planning to visit a Los Angeles recording studio this week with producer Timbaland to re-record the Motown classic You're All I Need to Get By, originally a hit for Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell in 1968.
Earlier this month, Timbaland approached Justin to plead for him to help propel Britney back to the top of the charts.
He said: "I feel her pain, it really bothers me. I asked Justin, 'How would you feel about me working with Britney? Would you do it with me?' He said he would."
Britney checked out of Malibu's Promises rehab centre last week. Shortly before she was admitted, she shocked the showbiz world with her bizarre behaviour which included shaving her head.
Meanwhile, Britney has splashed out US$8 million on a Malibu mansion and paid an extra $1 million to move in the same day.
The singer, who bid $9.2 million for the property, decided to keep the mansion's garish animal print furniture.
A source said: "She was hungry to bring some normality to her family life. As soon as she saw it she outbid all the rival buyers. Then she persuaded the owners to move out immediately."
